Lagos Barber Slashes A Girl's Neck For Refusing To Be His Girlfriend

Eighteen-year-old Boluwatife Ajadi had 
been looking forward to enjoying the New 
Year festivity with her family in peace and 
happiness, but she spent it in agony on a 
hospital bed, hanging on to life.
Boluwatife, who finished secondary school in 
September 2014, fell victim of a vicious 
attack by a scorned suitor, a young man who 
had been seeking her hand in a romantic 
friendship, around 11pm on. December 30, 2014. 
But the culprit, 21-year-old Sakiru Buari, 
insisted that Boluwatife was his girlfriend.
When our correspondent visited Samas 
Hospital, a private health facility in Baruwa 
area of Lagos, there was no way of speaking 
with Boluwatife. She had been unable to 
speak since the attack, her family said. The 
girl had been induced to sleep by the hospital staff.
Her elder sister, Adeola, who narrated what 
happened, said she had feared that her 
sister might not survive the attack which left 
a long and deep gash on her neck.
A picture of the fresh wound showed part of 
the girl’s neck, flesh that is almost the size 
of a palm, hanging loose.
“The man used a razor to cut her neck,” 
Adeola began. “There was no doubt that he 
actually wanted to kill her. It all started 
about 11pm when we were hearing a noise 
outside our house on Alhaja Wasilat Street, 
Baruwa. Someone was shouting ‘thief, thief’ 
and we all rushed outside but I did not 
realise my sister was not inside with us.
“When I went outside, I saw someone 
staggering towards us holding her neck. She 
was struggling to call for help. By the time I 
realised it was my sister, she collapsed on 
the ground.”
Saturday PUNCH learnt that soon after the 
attack, neighbours who had heard 
Boluwatife’s initial alert for help, were able 
to catch Buari who had attempted to flee at 
the time.
“When they caught him, the man was even 
saying that he regretted that she did not 
die. All I could do was scream for help as I 
went to where my sister collapsed.
“At that time of the night, nobody was 
willing to help us. No vehicle stopped for us to 
take her to the hospital. At a point, I had to 
go to the middle of the road pleading for 
help.“Eventually, a young man at the scene 
picked her up from the ground and carried 
her towards the nearest hospital with the 
help of other eyewitnesses.

Mbaka Blows Hot Again -Tell Them I’m Not Afraid

Enugu Catholic priest and founder of the 
Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka 
yesterday while giving a sermon at the 
Christ the King Catholic Parish GRA, Enugu, 
yesterday said he has been receiving threat 
messages after his Dec. 31st , message where 
he asked Nigerians to vote President 
Jonathan out. But says if the threats had 
moved him, he won’t be standing in their 
presence and preaching. His words;
“Tell them I am not afraid of them. I have 
said what I was asked to say. The only word I 
have for them is Isaiah 54:15,17: “Surely 
they shall gather, but because the gathering 
is not of God they shall scatter. No weapon 
fashioned against me shall prosper.
“They said Buhari gave me money, but I have 
never met with Buhari. I don’t know him in 
person. I only delivered the message I was 
given and I stand by that message because 
the future of this country is bleak with 
Jonathan on the saddle.”
He also said, he had asked the first lady, 
Patience Jonathan when she came to his 
church to give him her number so he could 
pass messages across whenever he receives 
any, but thrice the first lady refused and 
asked a pastor with her to give him his own 
number instead.
“So, before that message, I had called the 
number for two weeks but it was always the 
Personal Assistant to the pastor that picked 
the calls,“ he said.

Catholic secretariat asks Enugu bishop to caution Mbaka

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria on 
Monday expressed concern over the 
“excesses” of a Roman Catholic Priest, Rev. 
Fr. Ejike Mbaka, whose recent comments on 
the 2015 general elections have continued to 
generate ripples.
Mbaka had in his New Year message slammed 
President Goodluck Jonathan, asking him to 
quietly resign from office.
While calling on the Catholic Bishop of Enugu 
Diocese, Bishop Callistus Onaga, to caution 
the priest, the CSN said Mbaka’s comments 
concerning the President and the 
forthcoming general elections were his 
personal opinion and not that of the Catholic Church.
Secretary-General of CSN, Rev Fr. Ralph 
Madu, in an interview with The PUNCH in 
Abuja, said there were better ways for 
Mbaka to pass his message across 
“considering the explosive nature of this country.”
He said, “With the way the Catholic Church 
operates, he (Mbaka) belongs to a Diocese 
and it is the responsibility of his Bishop to 
draw his attention to that; the name of the 
Bishop of Enugu Diocese is Bishop Callistus 
Onaga. The Bishop of Enugu Diocese should 
draw his attention to it; the (Catholic) 
Church doesn’t ignore such excesses because 
there is a procedure.
“If I get a vision to go and kill somebody, will 
I go and kill? That is what I am telling you, 
that people like him (Mbaka) have many 
followers and all over the world, they are the 
same. When they claim that the spirit is 
telling them something, who are you to 
question the spirit? But if the Holy Spirit is 
telling you something, you must say it in a 
manner that will forestall confusion and 
trouble. That is how things are done, it is not 
the Catholic Church that is speaking; it is 
just an individual, just one priest. I think if it 
is taken that way, it will be properly 
understood.”
According to him, some charismatic leaders 
“say so many things and most times, they 
claim they are getting their inspiration from 
the Holy Spirit or from God.”
He added, “Fr. Mbaka is a popular guy and 
not like the rest of us and what makes him 
popular are these prophecies and that is why 
people are following them. So, I think his 
Bishop can draw his attention to it.
“You know people like him have many 
followers and they celebrate them and they 
visit them for healing and many other 
spiritual pilgrimages. That is why they 
attract such type of crowd. Even though he 
doesn’t make much noise like us, they are the 
people who have their own followers, and that 
is why everybody is concerned.”
When asked what the Catholic Church says 
about visions and prophecies and whether the 
priest has not been deviating from the 
Catholic dogma, the CSN scribe said there 
were better ways of passing across such messages.
He said, “People get messages in visions but 
if you are talking of the sensitivity of what 
you are saying, that is the issue. Most times, 
even when people have the truth, you don’t 
open your mouth wide. You can be saying 
something that is true, but there are some 
ways of passing across that message in a way 
that it will be acceptable, considering the 
explosive nature of this country and many 
other factors.”
Before he “fell out” with Jonathan, Mbaka 
was one of the President’s supporters and 
was said to have endorsed him for re- 
election.
In November 2014, during the annual 
thanksgiving and bazaar organised by his 
church, which had many dignitaries, including 
the Deputy Senate President, Ike 
Ekweremadu and wife of the President, 
Patience Jonathan, in attendance, Mbaka had 
reportedly said the President had “done 
well” and deserved another term in office.
He had said Jonathan could have 
accomplished more if not for 
“distractions,”adding that “campaigners 
have no reason asking the President to 
return the (Chibok) girls home since Mr. 
Jonathan was not keeping them. Jonathan is 
not a kidnapper.”

REVEREND FATHER MBAKA: A cry for relevance - BUCHI writes!!

Before you start with the "touch not my 
anointed" slogan I suggest you peruse the post.
We have idolised men of God and anybody 
who dares speak against a man of God's 
ideology is termed blasphemous. I beg to 
differ, I have a mind of my own and will 
speak my mind and won't swallow what any 
man says just because of his reputation.
Sorry to say this but I hav long lost whatever 
atom of respect I have for Father Mbaka. I 
am happy that the Catholic society distanced 
themselves from his recent outbursts and 
said he speaks for himself and not the 
Catholic church. Since the reign of Dr. 
Chimaroke Nnamani, I have noticed that 
Mbaka makes it a point of duty to attack 
every government in power. He so much 
tarnished the Governor's name that I felt 
pity for the man. Every sermon then had 
negative things about Chimaroke. I totally 
lost respect for him the day he vented and 
proclaimed that Chimaroke would not ascend 
the seat a second time. That if that happens 
he would pull off his cassock. Well, we all 
know the rest, Chimaroke Nnamani won the 
election and Father Mbaka is yet to hand 
over his cassock. Funny enough people still 
ardently follow him like a messiah. 
Truly 
religion is the opium of the masses. 
Reverend Father Mbaka, fought against 
Sullivan Chime when he banned the use of 
Motorcycles which has been anglicised 
"Okada". He called the present Governor 
wicked for trying to take the source of 
livelihood from the masses. He tried making 
his congregation vote someone else but it 
didn't work. He said loads of things against 
Chime. The Governor banned Okada because 
it has caused a lot of mayhem in the state, 
robbery attacks were made easy thanks to it, 
orthopaedic hospital had a steady influx of 
patients, thanks to it, ask staffs of 
orthopaedic they will inform you that the 
number of patients has drastically reduced.
Local bone setters have also had a turn down 
of customers because of the ban. It was not 
like there wasn't any alternative to 
motorcycles. Keke Napep or Keke Marwa as 
we know it was introduced and most of the 
okada riders have switched to it so what 
exactly is his problem?
I live in Enugu and it is almost impossible not 
to hear things about him. If as a man of God 
you feel the government is failing say so but 
stop the cheap name calling. Did he have to 
call the president names like " Badluck"? I 
heard another tape years back he called GEJ 
Esau, that he is the first son of Nigeria but 
his birthright would be sold to Jacob. Lmao, 
why are we even listening to this man again?
He is merely trying to sound relevant and to 
do so he feels attacking the government is 
his only shot. Controversy doesn't suit a priest.
Lest I forget, did you hear of his controversy 
with Union Bank? Oh, the reverend father 
resorts to cheap blackmail and lies to get at 
people. He had a problem with Union Bank 
and he withdrew all his money from the bank 
and then made a statement urging his 
followers to take away their cash from thr 
bank because the bank was about collapsing.
If Union Bank didn't fold up then it is by the 
Grace of God. People all over Nigeria began 
withdrawing their cash and closing their 
accounts because of his statement. 
The bank 
had to go around and beg people not to leave 
that the bank was not folding up. 
This is the man many of you listen to and nod 
your heads to his teachings. What a man of God!!

For Comfort Oluwaseun Adebowale, Marriage 
is for better for worse. This principle has 
been her guiding Philosophy since she walked 
down the aisle with her husband of 15 years 
Olorode Abimbola Gbenga (pictured right) a 
teacher in Abeokuta Ogun State.
Comfort (pictured left) decided to love and 
give him a chance when they met in 1999 
though he was a nobody then, his parents 
were late and his family abadoned him to 
fate and harsh realities of the society.

Things took downturn in 2008 when the husband 
got a Job and then his behavior changed, he 
started keeping late night, started behaving 
funny, answering calls from unknown women and 
then the worse of it, she became his punching bag.
I was enduring, hoping and praying that he will 
change, I cried to God in the night to touch his 
heart and bring him back home but it seem that 
things were getting worse she told me in an 
emotion laden voice.
My husband of 15 years decided to rub it on me 
by dating my friend, a prophetess in our church 
and the wife of the shepherd of Christ Anointed 
& Miracle Church Aregbesola Eleweran Abeokuta.

In a telephone conversation with this reporter, the 
battered woman narrated that the husband and 
the prophetess started dating late last year and 
then afraid that Karma will catch him, he 
directed her not to respond, greet or be found 
talking with the man he snatched his wife who is 
incidentally the good shephard of their church, 
Pastor Samuel Adeniji, Good Shepherd position 
akin to a pastor in modern pentecostal church
A directive that she disobeyed on Saturday 3rd 
January 2015, On her to the market, she saw the 
Pastor that the Husband snatched the wife sitting 
in front of their church, she stopped to greet 
him and and before one could say Jack Robinson, 
the Husband appeared on the scene and what 
happened next looks like a horror straight from 
Nollywood Film
The enraged husband slapped her in public and if 
that was not enough, he picked a stone from the 
ground and smashed it on her fore head, raining 
unprintable words on her and cursing her to die.
Comfort was left in a pool of her blood and it 
took the intervention of good spirited individuals 
who took her to the hospital
When I asked her whether she has reported the 
matter to Police, she said yes she has done that 
only that his Father-in-Law ACP Olorode Timothy 
retired as a policeman and the husband has been 
using that influence to stop the police 
investigation from going on

Boko Haram Can’t Stop Elections In Northeast – Governors

The Governors of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe 
states, the worst hit in Boko Haram attacks, say 
elections will hold in their states next month 
despite the security challenges posed by Boko Haram.
According to KSM News, the governors of Borno 
State Governor Kashim Shettima and his Yobe 
counterpart, Ibrahim Gaidam stated this while 
speaking to State House correspondents after a 
security meeting with President Jonathan at the 
presidential Villa, Abuja today January 6th.
The Governors argued that if elections could hold 
in troubled countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and 
Pakistan, then the Northeast states shouldn’t be 
an exception. Then they requested the deployment 
of more troops to effectively manage the 
insurgency crisis being faced in their states.

A drunk police office paid a hooker $30 for her 
services. But when they reached her home, he fell asleep.
In the morning the cop, Robson Ravurayi (24) 
based at Mphoengs Police Station demanded his 
services. The hooker agreed but told the cop he 
had to use protection. Robson refused. The 
prostitute put her foot down and gave him his money back.
The cop then forced himself on her. He was 
arrested and brought before Plumtree 
magistrate Livard Philemon yesterday facing 
rape, malicious damage to property and public 
indecency charges. After raping the prostitute 
the cop is said to have taken taken a bath 
outside the woman’s house in full view of 
passersby.
Ravurayi was not asked to plead and was 
remanded in custody to January 16. 
Prosecuting, Jane Phiri said Ravurayi committed 
the offences on Tuesday around 6AM.
His victim’s neighbour bathing outside the woman’s door who 
informed the police, leading to Ravurayi’s 
arrest. “The accused person unlawfully had 
sexual intercourse with the complainant without 
her consent.
He then went on to destroy two kitchen chairs 
and a mirror valued at $70. He was later seen 
by a member of the public bathing naked 
outside the complainant’s front door,” said Phiri.
The police officer met the woman at a bottle 
store in Plumtree on Monday evening where he 
was drinking with his friends. He paid her $30 
for them to have sex, but he fell asleep when 
they reached her home in Mathendele area.
The following morning, Phiri added, Ravurayi 
insisted on having sexual intercourse with the 
woman without using protection but she turned 
down the request. She said Ravurayi then 
demanded his money back and was given. 
Instead of leaving, the cop insisted on having 
sexual intercourse with the woman and when she 
refused, he raped her once without using any 
protection. He threatened to kill her if she told 
anyone.
A neighbour who first spotted the naked police 
officer alerted the police who attended the 
scene resulting in his arrest.

Emir of Kano, Sanusi, denies planning to marry 17 year old girl

Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi has denied 
reports that he's planning to marry the 17 year 
old daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa. The 
Emir, who already has three wives, denied the 
report to Sahara Reporters via one of his aides. 
The Emir said "that he fully supports the right of 
children not to get forcibly married before 
attaining the constitutionally stipulated age of 18 
years" but he didn't rule out the possibility of 
marrying a fourth wife. He advised people to wait 
to see the real age of his wife if he decides to marry again.

Meet the man who murdered his rich dad for reducing his pocket money

30 year Thomas Gilbert Jr, (pictured left) shot his 
70year old rich dad Thomas Gilbert (pictured 
right) at his Manhattan home on Sunday afternoon 
January 4th. Gilbert Sr was the founder of 
$200million hedge fund, Wainscott Capital.
Thomas Jr had gone to see his father at his home 
after the father threatened to stop paying his 
$2,400-a-month rent and also cut his weekly 
allowance to $300, according to New York Daily 
News. While father and son were reportedly 
arguing about their issues, Thomas Jr sent his 
mother out of the house to buy him a sandwich so 
she wouldn't witness what he was planning to do.
According to reports, Thomas, who attended 
$50,000-a-year school, then shot his father in 
the head and left the gun, said to belong to his 
father, on his chest.
The hedge fund founder's body was discovered by 
his wife who then called police and told them 
she'd left her son with his father before she left 
the house that afternoon. She then gave the 
police her son's address. The NYPD arrested 
Thomas Jr later at his own home and this morning 
charged him with his father's murder and criminal 
possession of a weapon.

Majority of foreign prisoners in Ghana are Nigerians & its a national disgrace- Nigeria ambassador to Ghana

Nigeria's High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Ademola Oluseyi Onafowokan has 
raised an alarm over the increasing number of Nigerians serving jail terms in Ghana, 
describing the increasing number of Nigerians in foreign prison all over the world as a 
National disgrace.
"Firstly, I agree with you that majority of them are Nigerians, but should 
majority of them be Nigerians? We shouldn’t even be saying such things with 
pride because it is a national disgrace. 
Every country we go, they are filled with 
Nigerians, why? It is unfortunate. But I believe if you are ready to take the 
risk, then you must be ready to dance to the music.Now to the question of 
helping with infrastructure and other things; Nigeria High Commission doesn’t 
have the kind of money to build prisons. We are just here to do our core duties 
such as issuing passports, visa, supporting Nigerians in distress and to keep 
promoting the diplomatic relationship between the two brotherly nations" 
Ambassador Onafowokan told Tribune
Ambassador Onafowokan says his personal efforts has helped in saving a Nigerian who 
was once put on death roll and that no Nigerian has died in any of the Ghanian 
prisons since he assumed office
"As regard the issue of the report, I want to believe it was written by one of 
the prisoners and smuggled to someone to publish for them, because the report 
is not the reality on ground. First of all, I will like to assure you that no Nigerian 
has died in the prison. Secondly, I want to assure you that I visited them; spoke 
to them and I always sympathise with them. But the truth is, when you do illegal 
things in a foreign land, you should know you will be jailed in that foreign land, 
so why commit such a crime? Moreover, if they succeeded in making money from 
such illicit transaction, they use the money to harass everyone on the streets; 
illicit money source of which you will never know. I have visited them and I make 
sure people visit them regularly. I usually send my officials to take toiletries and 
other provisions to them. If you check on them, they are almost more than the 
Ghanaians in Nsawam prison in terms of population. They wouldn’t stop doing 
drugs and getting involved in armed robbery cases. I remember a Nigerian was 
sentenced to death, I personally spoke to the Chief Justice and I wrote a letter 
to plead for his life, and he has not been executed, and I don’t think he’ll be 
executed. About the long sentences they are giving them, which I was told by the 
Chief Justice of Ghana Mrs Theodore Woods, they assured me that they will look 
into it, but they told me those sentences are to discourage other Nigerians from 
thinking Ghana is a safe haven for criminals. It is logical to make a U-turn if 
you know that you are likely to get a prison sentence of 50-130 years if caught 
committing crime as a Nigerian or a foreigner. But that has not deter them, as 
Nigerians fill up the Ghana prisons on a daily basis, and after being caught, they 
want us (Nigeria High Commission) to come and get them out. Also, any Nigerian 
prisoner released comeS to the Nigeria High Commission (NHC), we usually give 
them GHC100 ($40) which will take them to Lagos. Since I resumed as the High 
Commissioner, I have been doing that religiously. Sometimes when they come, I 
will ask them to be brought in front of me, and I ask them what led them into 
it, and afterwards, I counsel them. 
The question remains that when you know 
there is a reward for your crime if caught, why do it? On the question of 
prisoners exchange, I have spoken with the parliamentary Committee on Foreign 
Affairs and I mentioned the issue; I was made to understand that Nigerian 
prisons are too full, and that the prisoner exchange document has not been 
concluded yet. If you check countries around the world, you will find Nigerian 
prisoners there, and it baffles me. I think we need a national orientation because 
this is becoming a huge embarrassment to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and 
this is as a result of the fact that they want to get rich quick. It’s not a crime 
to be rich, but it must be earned. The High Commission is doing its best to 
ensure that Nigerian prisoners have a humanity touch. The High Commission 
doesn’t have power to get them released; all we can do is to keep pleading"he 
said. Ambassador Onafowokan stated that it was wrong for the Ghanian 
authorities to hand long jail term to foreigners as an instrument of deterrent 
but that as an Ambassador, he has no power to change the judicial system of a 
country. He argues that to serve long jail term is better than beheading which is 
the law in some other countries for drug traffickers. "I agree that policy is not 
right. Like I told you, I sat down with Chief Justice Theodore Woods, and he 
promised to work on it. I don’t think I can force authorities in Ghana to change 
its justice system. So also, Ghana High Commission in Nigeria cannot force 
Nigerian government to change our justice system. In some countries, the law 
prescribed that you will be beheaded if you commit certain crime, and there’s 
little or nothing diplomacy can do to make them change their mind. I think to go 
to prison for a long time is better than being beheaded. But the best solution is 
to walk away from criminality" he said.

IBB says his government was filled with saints and angels

Former Military Head of state, Gen. Ibrahim 
Babangida described members of his 
administration as saints and angels compared to 
those in power today. IBB made this remark 
during an interview with EFCC's internal 
correspondence "Zero Tolerance" 
"Let me tell you something, maybe you have 
a hand in it. I have been the most 
investigated President Nigeria has ever had.
By now, somebody should have come forward 
to say here it is. Every government that 
came after me investigated me because of 
that perception as they wanted to retrieve 
the billions I stole. Well, we had different 
approaches. I think my government was able 
to identify corruption-prone areas and 
checked them. If you remember in this 
country, there were things they call 
essential commodities. These are also sources 
of corruption. You go and buy Omo or food 
or whatever it is and we got government to 
take its hands off such activities. Let people 
use their own brains, hands and labour, 
nobody has to do it for them. So we did but 
I am proud to say that was much more 
effective. I don’t have the facts but if what 
I read in the newspapers is currently what is 
happening then I think we were angels” he said
IBB says the perception that his government 
institutionalized corruption is incorrect, arguing 
that with the little his administration was making 
from oil they could do what they did but with the 
much the present administration is making from 
oil, much is still left to be desired 
"Yeah, I know. Maybe I have to accept that 
but anybody with a sense of fairness has no 
option but to call us saints. I give you an 
example, in a year I was making less than 
$7billion in oil revenue. In the same period, 
there are governments that are making 
$200billion to $300billion. With $7billion, I 
did the little I could achieve. With 
$200billion, there is still a lot to be 
achieved.”he said
On the $12.4billion oil windfall from the 1991 Gulf 
War which many believed was stolen by his 
government, Babangida insisted the money was 
not stolen.
“First of all, that war lasted three months, 
about ninety something days. It didn’t last 
up to a year. So get the facts straight.
Secondly, the oil price at that time was below 
$18 per barrel. So, there is no way you could 
make $12.4billion in three months. We could 
not have made that amount of money but 
Pius Okigbo knew what he was doing. 
He had 
brains and he said between 1986 or 1988 to 
1994, monies accrued to the Federal 
Government at that time was about that 
money you are calling windfall. He said so. It 
is there in his book. Then the other thing he 
said, the monies could have gone into 
generative investment. I am not an 
economist but I have an understanding of 
what this is. Our argument then was if you 
have the money, why keep it and be looking 
at it when you have a lot of things that will 
benefit the ordinary man. So that money was 
not stolen. It is what you see now in the 
country. Thank God most of the 
infrastructure we put in place are what you 
are using today and proudly so.”
Gen Babangida says the gains from the oil boom 
was used in the development of infrastructures 
such as the FCT Abuja and the third mainland 
bridge in Lagos amongst others 
“Abuja for example, I built Abuja.
Today, we 
have a brand new capital. We used that 
money. I gave you a Third Mainland Bridge in 
Lagos. You cannot build it now for all the 
money Nigeria is making. And what did it 
cost me? N500million, N600million, 
N700million. For the first time, a dual 
carriage way was seen in the Northern part 
of the country between Kaduna and Kano 
and then linked it up from Abuja. You cannot 
afford to do it now; you cannot even afford 
to touch it because there are a lot of 
competing needs.”he said
IBB who announced the annulment of the June 12 
election in which business mogul Late Chief 
Moshood Abiola was adjudged the winner, accepted 
that the election was a credible election 
"Yes, it (June 12) is a day in the history of 
Nigeria and the day the most credible 
election was held. We gave you a lot of 
reasons but I understood the passion. 
At 
that time, everybody was fed up. The 
sentiment was: just pack your things and go. 
Our thought process is very limited. 
First of 
all, on June 23, 1993, I was on the air and I 
told Nigerians why we had to do what we did 
but I was sensible enough to know that 
whatever I said nobody was interested. So, 
the important thing is get out.”he said 
Speaking about his investments, Babangida said he 
is a major shareholder in a bank but failed to 
mention the name of the bank or the value of his 
shares in the bank.
On how he built his Hilltop Mansion in Minna, 
Babangida said:
“I cannot estimate because it has 
appreciated. I know what my friends spent.
No, my friends contributed. They were 
friends before we came into government and 
friends while I was in government. I started 
building it in 1991, took two to three years 
so that by the time I finished, I would have 
a house to sleep in.”

18 Female Soldiers Feared Kidnapped In Baga, Borno state

Sahara Reporters is reporting that Boko Haram 
militants may have kidnapped 18 female soldiers in 
Baga in Borno State. Report below...
Two sources told SaharaReporters that, out 
of 26 female soldiers posted to the military 
base of the Multinational Joint Task Force, 
only eight have so far been accounted for.
The commander of the troops in the area, 
Colonel Kuti, has also not been found since 
the insurgents attacked the town on 
Saturday. Residents of Baga told our 
reporters that Boko Haram insurgents 
invaded their town and killed at least 55 
people, including soldiers attached to MNJTF.
Both residents and security sources said the 
insurgent attack lasted close to 18 hours 
before the Islamist terrorists overpowered 
the troops and seized the military base. One 
military source said the attack took them by 
surprise. He said the troops made a gallant 
effort to repel the attack, but that 
hundreds of Islamist militants stormed the 
military base with high-caliber weapons. A 
resident revealed that the invading 
insurgents also burnt down parts of the 
fishing town. Bukar Kaka, a fisherman who 
fled from the town, said no fewer than 50 
villagers, including five soldiers, were killed 
while others sustained wounds in the attacks.
He said he saw soldiers fleeing. 
A security source said the insurgent invaders 
also stormed other neighboring communities, 
shooting indiscriminately at people. 
He added 
that the militants also destroyed hundreds 
of houses and shops, often using fuel and 
other explosive devices.
In an interview with the British Broadcasting 
Corporation (BBC), Senator Maina Ma’aji 
Lawan confirmed the insurgents’ attack on 
Baga and surrounding towns. He added that 
military troops and youth volunteers, 
popularly known as ‘civilian JTF, had 
attempted to repel the onslaught, but were 
overpowered by the invaders.

The epileptic man on the road

"What happened today, 6th of january, 2015 shows what Nigeria has become 
today. The average man in Nigeria is helpless ( I write this with all sincerity of 
heart) 
Today an epileptic man was lying helplessly on the side of the road vibrating and 
lying faced down. People drove by, walked by and no one seemed to care and 
because of the epidemic virus- ebola no one wanted to touch him and that is 
very understandable. 
We were 5 or 6 of us so who cared. 
what did we do? We called for an ambulance three 
different times and were we told “IT WASNT AN EMERGENCY”. Then we called the 
ebola line maybe they would handle the situation with more efficiency. 
UNFORTUNATELY the person who picked the call heard the story and cut off the 
call...imagine that! So we didn’t bother to call for help again!
So we hoped that the epilepsy would calm down, but unfortunately it became worse 
and due to that he ended up falling in the gutter (which was full of stale water), he 
could have lost his life. So 2 men were able to bring him out and then we got a doctor 
who lived nearby to come help us .. HOURS went by and FINALLY! He came back! He 
remembered his name & was able to speak………
At the end of the day, he got come money for transport, a change of cloths and 
definitely some advice from the doctor! I’m so grateful he didn’t have to lose his life.
If the roads was tarred his asthma wouldn’t have been at the extreme. If the gutter 
was properly drained, He wouldn’t have drowned. If we had reliable health care 
services in this country he would have gotten better treatment and probably not have 
gotten that epileptic attack. If we had an effective ambulance system and if the 
ebola line was effective too he would have been in the hospital getting better 
treatment. If we weren’t caring enough to help him! Who knows??? He could have 
lost his life. 
Nigeria needs a turnaround before its too late!!!

How weird is this? Nursery staff and childminders 
have been given 'duty' by the UK government to 
report toddlers they suspect of being at risk of 
becoming terrorists under new Home Office 
measures. They will now start spying and labeling 
toddlers from black and ethnic minorities.

Nursery school staff and registered 
childminders must report toddlers at risk of 
becoming terrorists, under counter- 
terrorism measures proposed by the 
Government. The directive is contained in a 
39-page consultation document issued by the 
Home Office in a bid to bolster its Prevent 
anti-terrorism plan.
Critics said the idea was “unworkable” and 
“heavy-handed”, and accused the 
Government of treating teachers and carers as “spies”.
The document accompanies the Counter-Terrorism 
and Security Bill, currently before parliament. It 
identifies nurseries and early years childcare 
providers, along with schools and universities, as 
having a duty “to prevent people being drawn into 
terrorism”.
The consultation paper adds: “Senior management 
and governors should make sure that staff have 
training that gives them the knowledge and 
confidence to identify children at risk of being 
drawn into terrorism and challenge extremist ideas 
which can be used to legitimise terrorism and are 
shared by terrorist groups.
"They should know where and how to refer 
children and young people for further help.” 
But concern was raised over the practicalities of 
making it a legal requirement for staff to inform 
on toddlers.
David Davis, the Conservative MP and former 
shadow home secretary, said: “It is hard to see 
how this can be implemented. It is unworkable. I 
have to say I cannot understand what they 
[nursery staff] are expected to do.
“Are they supposed to report some toddler who 
comes in praising a preacher deemed to be 
extreme? I don’t think so. 
“It is heavy-handed.”
Mr Davis also accused the Home Office of pushing 
the legislation too quickly.
Isabella Sankey, the policy director at human 
rights body Liberty, said: “Turning our teachers 
and childminders into an army of involuntary spies 
will not stop the terrorist threat.

Focus on real campaign - PDP tells APC, says APC plans fake poll rating for Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 
counseled the All Progressives Congress 
(APC) and its Presidential candidate, 
General Muhammadu Buhari to focus on real 
campaign and try to win followers genuinely 
instead of applying cheap diversionary tactics.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa 
Metuh in a statement on Monday said “the 
APC so called ‘change agenda’ should be 
based on issues and not on change of 
dressing and religious gathering”.
“This election is not about political window- 
dressing and dramatizing. What will count is 
record of performance and antecedents, which 
President Jonathan stands taller than General Buhari.
“It is therefore not surprising that the APC and 
its Presidential candidate will resort to organizing 
a kangaroo opinion rating in a failed attempt to 
cover up their inadequacies and manipulate public 
perception in their favour.
This APC phantom poll has been designed in such a 
way to make the Nigerian public believe that 75 
percent of the voting population is in support of 
General Buhari ahead the February 14 
Presidential election.
Our findings reveal that the APC leaders are 
already intensifying effort to compromise some 
section of the media so as to ensure that the poll 
packaged by its foreign consultants is widely publicized.
Part of the strategy is a disguised mobile phone 
balloting application being circulated by the APC, 
whereby a curious click elicits a thank-you 
message from them and automatically register 
the unsuspecting phone user as having voted in 
support of General Buhari.
We are indeed shocked at the level the APC and 
its presidential candidate have sunk in their 
desperation for power. We hereby urge Nigerians, 
particularly the media to be wary of this plot to 
deceive the public and truncate our democratic process.
Our final advice to the APC is that they should 
focus on real campaign and stop playing to the 
gallery. Lies, no matter how much embellished can 
never take the place of truth and nothing built on 
falsehood stands.  This election is not about fake 
figures and falsehood. It is about the choice of 
the citizens. Nigerians have since made up their 
minds to continue identifying with their 
performing President and no amount of 
propaganda and misrepresentation by the APC can 
change this.

Brands expert Kenny Badmus, who took to his 
Facebook page on December 1st, to reveal how 
he's been living successfully with HIV for the last 
15 years (read story here ), just revealed that he 
can get married and have children if he wants to 
despite being HIV positive. what he wrote below...
One of the most frequently asked questions 
from hundreds of emails I received after 
December 1st is : Will you be able to get 
married and have a child if you are HIV 
positive? [ or if you are going through some 
major medical issue ].
Let me cut to the chase here and say a bold 
yes. [ If I want to ]. Being Positive does not 
preclude anyone from getting married or 
having children – thank God for science.
Research suggests that anti-HIV therapy during 
pregnancy plus planned caesarean delivery may 
reduce the risk of transmission to as low as 1 in 
50 women. ( AidsMap) The question is ‘how many of 
these women are accessing healthcare? If you 
want to have a healthy child and you are HIV +, 
quickly get on therapy and follow your doctor’s 
advice.
To be in love or starting to date again should not 
scare anyone. And you don’t have to start looking 
for HIV positive people to date. There are people 
out there – though very few- who care less what 
your sero status is. The best prevention you can 
give your lover/spouse, if they are negative, is 
for you to ensure you are on treatment. Yes.
The second largest study – 052- to look at 
whether people with HIV become non-infectious if 
they are on antiretroviral therapy (ART) has 
found no cases where someone with a viral load 
under 200 copies/ml transmitted HIV, either by 
anal or vaginal sex. Although this study continues 
into 2017, with best practices and eliminations of 
other STDs, it’s almost impossible to infect your 
partner with HIV if you are adhering to your

child. It is more of a traditional thing for most of 
us in Africa to want to get married or have a 
child by all means. In my opinion, I think it’s a 
very dogmatic way of living our lives. Why live to 
make others approve of you? It’s not worth it. 
Marriage or having children do not guarantee our 
lives will be better.
As someone who had lived with these societal 
expectations for many years myself, I became 
healthier and emancipated the day I dropped

more. I have seen people in marriages who are 
very happy, and I have seen people in marriages 
who are very miserable. I have seen people with 
children who are very happy.
Just the same way I have seen people with children 
who are very lonely and miserable in their old age. 
What brings happiness is living our best lives. 
Marriage or being being married does not solve all 
our problems if we enter into it for all the wrong 
reasons. Being in love is much better. Marriage is 
a legalistic way of looking at love. It allows for 
claims, societal celebrations and approvals of our 
mates. You don’t have to be in love to get 
married.
The two are not mutually exclusive although they 
are better when they go hand in hand. Hence, the 
sham marriages around us today. But you have to 
be in love to say you are in love. Love has no true 
love or false love. Marriage on the other hand can 
be falsified. I’d rather you pushed towards being 
in and finding love. And if that love leads to 
marriage, how lucky are you! Embrace it. Do it to 
gain the legal benefits if you have to marry. 
Having a child is about the same. If you can have 
your own child biologically, embrace it, and cherish 
it. Science also has made this possible. We should 
look at this at other time. If you cannot, go pour 
your love on other children around you. Children 
are the most visible victims of undernutrition.

poorly nourished suffer up to 160 days of illness 
each year. Poor nutrition plays a role in at least 
half of the 10.9 million child deaths each year– 
five million deaths.’
Further statistics reveals that undernutrition 
magnifies the effect of every disease, including 
measles and malaria. The estimated proportions of 
deaths in which undernutrition is an underlying 
cause are roughly similar for diarrhea (61%), 
malaria (57%), pneumonia (52%), and measles 
(45%) (Black 2003, Bryce 2005). You can be a 
godmother. A foster parent. An adoptive father. 
The list goes on.
